Dasara (Vijayadasami) is a 2023 Indian Telugu period action drama film directed by newcomer Srikanth Odela. Starring Nani, Keerthy Suresh, Dheekshith Shetty, Shine Tom Chacko, Samuthirakani, Sai Kumar and Shamna Kasim, the film is set against the backdrop of the Singareni coal mines in Godavarikhani of Telangana. Announced in October 2021, filming took place from March 2022 to January 2023. The film features a soundtrack and score composed by Santhosh Narayanan. Dasara was released on March 30, 2023, to positive reviews from critics, and proved to be a commercial success at the box office.
Dasara Plot :
In 2009, Dharani, a young thief who steals coal, lives with his grandmother in Veerlapally, where the women of the village suffer from alcoholism. He is best friends with Siddham “Suri” Suryam and Vennela. Dharani loves Vennela but finds out that she and Suri love each other. Sacrificing her love, Dharani helps bring them together. Vennela’s mother opposes their relationship due to Suri’s involvement in coal theft. Dharani convinces her and arranges her marriage by winning a cricket match.
However, during a bar fight, Dharani and Suri injure him, resulting in his arrest by Thurpugutta Chinna Nambi, son of sarpanch candidate, Thurpugutta Shivanna. Rajanna, Shivanna’s stepbrother, rescues them and encourages them to stay away from village politics. Suri convinces Rajanna to participate in the sarpanch election, which he ultimately wins with the support of the women. Dharani becomes the deputy Sarpanch and Suri’s marriage to Vennela is arranged.
On her wedding day, Suri learns of Dharani’s love for Vennela and her sacrifice. Heartbroken, he heads to the bar to talk to his friends, but is attacked and beheaded by a mysterious gang. Dharani investigates and finds out that Chinna Nambi orchestrated Suri’s death due to his lust for Vennela. Seeking revenge, Dharani protects Vennela by marrying her during Suri’s funeral.
Later, Dharani confronts Chinna Nambi in front of the village during Dasara. He reveals the truth and when the police arrive to arrest them, Dharani escapes and kills Chinna Nambi. Dharani and his friends are in jail. Seven years later, they return to the village, where Dharani realizes that the women are still suffering from alcohol. He sets the bar on fire, symbolizing the end of his destructive influence. Dharani and Vennela meet emotionally again.

Production :
Nani’s upcoming film “Dasara” directed by Srikanth Odela and produced by Sudhakar Cherukuri under Sri Lakshmi Venkateswara Cinemas was announced in October 2021. The film, described by Nani as a raw, rustic and adrenaline-pumping experience, is set in the Singareni Coal Mines near Godavarikhani, Telangana. Keerthy Suresh, Nani’s co-star in “Nenu Local”, was cast as the female lead. The film also features Samuthirakani, Prakash Raj, Rajendra Prasad, Roshan Mathew, Sai Kumar, and Zarina Wahab in major roles. Principal photography began in March 2022, with a song shot in Hyderabad in April. The third schedule began in July 2022. Filming wrapped on January 13, 2023, and the film is currently in post-production, with a planned release date of March 30.
