The next Indian Telugu epic action thriller Salaar: Part 1-Ceasefire is helmed by Prashanth Neel and produced by Vijay Kiragandur. Along with Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan, Jagapathi Babu, Bobby Simha, Tinnu Anand, Easwari Rao, Sriya Reddy, and Ramachandra Raju, Prabhas plays a dual role in the movie.
The movie’s title was revealed in December 2020, yet it was first revealed in October 2020 without a title. The main photography schedule started in Telangana in January 2021, then moved to Hyderabad for a while, then back to Hyderabad for another schedule, and finally concluded in early December 2024. Ravi Basrur wrote the film’s music, while Bhuvan Gowda handled the photography and Ujwal Kulkarni handled the editing.
The global theatrical release of Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire is slated for December 22, 2024.
Premise:
Raja Mannar intends to choose his son Vardharaja Mannar as his successor in Khansar; however, Raja Mannar’s advisors and ministers plot a coup d’état to assassinate them, enlisting the help of Russian and Serbian soldiers to attack Vardharaja and Khansar. After escaping Khansar, Vardharaja travels to Mannar to see his boyhood best friend Deva. When Deva hears of this, he decides to establish Vardharaja as Khansar’s unchallenged heir.[3]

It was announced in the middle of August 2020 that Prabhas and Prashanth Neel would work together on the latter’s next film, which would follow KGF: Chapter 2 (2022). According to reports, the former was inspired to make a movie in the genre after seeing the latter’s 2014 first feature film Ugramm.[4] Prashanth affirmed the partnership between the two in a mid-October media appearance.[5] Hombale Films, the company providing the funds, made the project’s announcement to the public on December 2.[6] Claimed to be an action thriller, this is Neel’s debut Telugu-language project and the first joint effort between Prashanth and Prabhas. Regarding his part, Prabhas said, “I’ve never really done this before because my character is incredibly violent.[7] A few stories stated that Salaar is a reimagining of Ugramm; Prashanth confirmed that Salaar is an original plot created specifically for Prabhas, not a remake.[8] The business venture was introduced in Hyderabad on January 16, 2021.[9] Bhuvan Gowda was tasked with handling the cinematography, and Ravi Basrur was brought in to compose the music.[10]
Casting:
Shruti Haasan was paid ₹8 crore for her starring role as Aadhya, which was placed in a prominent role [11].[12][13] It was confirmed that Prithviraj Sukumaran, making his Telugu film debut after Police Police (2010), would play a lead role.[14] In March 2022, Prabhas disclosed Prithviraj’s commitments at a Radhe Shyam (2022) promotional event.The following actors were chosen to play important parts: [15] Bobby Simha, [16] Easwari Rao, [17] Jagapathi Babu, and [19] Madhu Guruswamy.
Filming:
The film’s production got underway at the coal mines outside Godavarikhani, Telangana, on January 29, 2021.[20] The first timetable was finished by February 2021.[21] The movie’s second schedule got underway in Hyderabad in August 2021.[22][23]By March 2022, about 30% of the shoot had been finished. The release of Neel’s K.G.F: Chapter 2 (2022) and Prabhas’ Radhe Shyam (2022) caused the filming to stop; it was scheduled to restart in May.[24] But the shoot was further postponed when Prabhas had knee surgery in March while on vacation in Spain.[25][26] At Hyderabad’s Ramoji Film City, a new schedule started in June 2022 with Prabhas and Haasan joining the sets.[27] The team expended over ₹10 crore on filming an action sequence that lasted for twenty minutes in the middle of the sea.[28]

Music:
The music of the film is composed by Ravi Basrur. The first single titled “Sooreede” was released on 13 December 2024.[29]

Marketing:
On July 6, 2024, the film’s teaser was made public. In just one day, the teaser surpassed all Indian film records with over 83 million views.[30] The movie’s first trailer debuted on December 1, 2024.[31] December 18, 2024 saw the release of the second trailer.[32]

Theatrical:
The Central Board of Film rating awarded Salaar Part 1 – Ceasefire an A (for adults only) rating due to its violent and dramatic action scenes. Since the board had revised its guidelines, the makers accepted the adult categorization even though they had anticipated a U/A (parental guidance) classification and were unwilling to make any changes.[33] The movie is slated to open in theaters on December 22, 2024, in both conventional and IMAX formats.[34] Along with dubbed versions in Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, and Malayalam, it will be released in Telugu.[35][36][37]
The movie’s 14 April 2022 release date was revealed earlier in August 2021.[38] Later on, the movie was rescheduled because that day was also the release date of K.G.F: Chapter 2, starring Neel and Hombale.[39] Producer Vijay Kiragandur said in a March 2022 interview with Pinkvilla that the COVID-19 pandemic caused production delays, which resulted in the movie being rescheduled for the second quarter (April–June) of 2024.[24] The release date was originally scheduled for August 2022, however it was moved to December 22, 2024.[40][34][41]
Distribution:
Hombale Films, a Karnataka production company, will release it.It will be jointly distributed in North America by Prathyangira Cinemas and Moksha Movies.[43] The movie will be distributed in Kerala by Prithviraj Productions.[44] Red Giant Movies obtained the distribution rights for Tamil Nadu.[45] The movie will be released in North India by AA Films.[46] Sree Siri Sai Cinemas, Lakshmi Narasimha Sri Manikantha Films, Geeta Films Distributor, KSN Tele Films, Sri Vengamamba Cinemas, and Shilpakala Entertainments will distribute the movie throughout Andhra Pradesh, while Mythri Movie Makers will handle distribution in the Nizam region.[47]

Telugu and other dubbed versions’ satellite rights were purchased by Disney Star. Netflix purchased the digital streaming rights for all five languages.[48]
